Tolu And Tunde's Demuren's Official Wedding Photos

OAP Toolz of Beat Fm Lagos and Tunde Demuren got married last weekend in Dubai. These are their official wedding photos...

Waje Reveals How She Trended On Twitter For Being Fat: 'Someone Said I Looked Like A Fat Remote Control'

In this interview with Genevieve Magazine , singer Waje opens up on the difficulties of being a plus-size entertainer; how she handles competition from other females
artistes in the industry + the highs (and lows) of being a single mother.

On being fat-shamed for her full curvy figure

That was after my performance at the Guinness Colourful world event in October 2013. I trended on twitter but not for the right reasons.I did not trend because of my performance, instead I trended because people were uncomfortable with my body size. They had an opinion about how I looked. The things people were comparing me to were hideous. Someone took a picture of a remote control and said I looked like that. That made me say to myself, ‘you know what Waje, music isn’t for you’. I had come out with an album, but when that happened, I said you know what, I can’t deal with this. I cried for hours that day at Eko Hotel. And interestingly, I started feeling the way they said I looked. So, I started drinking. I became bitter. I
told myself I’m done with music. I’m going to find something else to do. I didn’t eat for days. I became angry with every family member who came to talk to me. I had no reasons to smile or be happy and decided to sign out of all my social media accounts.

Hitting the gym

I started working with Uzikwendu of Uzi’s Burnout. And Uzi did not just work on my body, he worked on my mind, also. Through that, I separated myself from the negativity and focused on what I wanted to hear. I
started to create an environment where the only thing I heard about myself is positive and great. So if you are my friend and you don’t compliment me, I’ll never call you. I edited my friendship. I then became more outspoken because initially I used to implode. I started telling it as it is.If I don’t like it, I say it. I had to tell myself, you are over thirty, if you don’t start telling people how you feel about their behavior, when will you start? That change made some people uncomfortable but that was the only way I could deal with it. You know, I used to think that my biggest fear in the world was failure, but I got to find out that my biggest fear was validation. As an artiste I
wanted so much to be accepted. But now,I don’t care. Someone can say I do not like your song and I’ll say thank you; because my brand is not just about putting out good music but selling aspiration to women as
well. But it gets difficult sometimes when people tell me that I am not a typical Nigerian woman because I am a single mother. So there are certain things I shouldn’t talk about, because I don’t have authority to talk about it. Even in the corporate world there are some jobs I can’t get because I am not married.

You do not care, anymore? You know you have competition, don’t you?

I’m aware of my competition but I don’t feel threatened by it.Initially, when I first started, I felt threatened, but now I don’t feel it anymore, because I understand diversity and the power in numbers.

On her type of music - to a certain degree, you’ve managed to stay on your lane.

There was a time I paid too much attention to what people were saying about my work, such that when God gives me a song, I’llbend up questioning it till I change it into
something different from what I was given. But when I got certain results, I decided to stay true to my vision.

Her thoughts on Gender Equality Bill

The core problem we have in this country is knowledge. So, a lot of people misunderstand the reason behind the things we do. A lot of people believe asking for gender equality means trying to lord it over men or struggling with men. But a lot of successful women understand how difficult it is to succeed in any
economic endeavor in this male dominated world. That is why they speak and make demands that will make it easier for other women to succeed in their economic endeavours too, even with the peculiarities of feminity. I believe that poverty is sexist and the only way we can eradicate poverty is by creating opportunities for women. My core passion is in the education of girls. When we start witheducation we are making sure that people have the ability to ask the right questions, approach issues from the position of strength and make the right decision. Most times the problem
women have is information; you hear a woman say I know that the reason he beats me is because he loves me.
That is why I came up with my African Woman platform where I can invest in the young African woman by sending her to school. If women themselves can start helping each other then we’ll be better for it. For instance, a neighbor who hears her
fellow woman going through domestic abuse can do something about it by reporting to the police! We have women in the police, don’t we? The change must start from within with every woman doing something about it until a culture is formed without there not necessarily being a law made. If women themselves cannot do something about their situation men will not pay us much attention. When I spoke
about this bill, it was women who insulted me. One told me, “Waje you have never been married, so please shut up.”

Lagos Government to Make Yoruba Language Compulsory In All Schools In The State

The Lagos State Government, LASG has revealed the need to make Yoruba Language a compulsory
teaching subject in all schools in the state. The state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, represented by his deputy Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, made this known on Thursday at a stakeholders’ forum organised by the state House of Assembly at Academy hall, Agidingbi, Ikeja.

He said the state had concluded plans and that the subject will be taught in primary schools and junior secondary school, JSS 3 across the state.

The Governor, who expressed reservations that government’s previous efforts at making the teaching of the language compulsory in all schools in the state were being frustrated by
proprietors of private schools, noted that it was important for children not only to learn the language of their environment, but also the culture and the people’s general way of life.

“It is very important for every Yoruba child to be able to speak the language very fluently, enriched with adequate cultural norms of the people so as to guarantee a responsible life in the future.“the state government equally noted that the imposition of western culture and language on Nigerian children has done a lot of damage to the rich local cultural heritage of the Yoruba
people,” he said.

Ambode expressed optimism that the State House of Assembly will do the needful to make the dream come to reality even as he commended the members for their efforts at ensuring that Yoruba language is not relegated to the background.

Davido Can't See Me Face To Face And Call Me His Boy- Dele Momodu Talks More About Their Controversy

Davido, his baby mama and Ovation publisher, Mr. Dele Momodu have since settled their squabble which started earlier this year.

However, the Omo Baba Olowu crooner still sings about the controversial issue in his songs, especially where he adds ' Dele na my boy, dele na my boy ' which tries to imply that Dele Momodu is his 'boy'.

Joy News had a brief chat with the veteran journalist and this is what he has to say about that particular line, ' Dele na my boy '

" Fans can misled people sometimes. Well that's what most music artistes all over the world do.He is using it to sell his album. He wants to sell his records, so he had to create controversy, to make that happen.

I don't know why you are talking about it now,as far as i'm concerned, he is just selling his records, because I don't think David will see me face to face and call me his boy. I'm his father.

I'm comfortable with that,I can't fight my own child and we are also connected for life through that child (Imade). He called me his boy, do I look like any body's boy? No! So what are we not saying! " he said

Nigeria Releases Its Livestocks Census: We Have 145 Million Chickens, 72.5 Million Goats, 41.3 Million Sheep, 1.2 Million Turkeys + More

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh on Thursday released a census of livestock in the country. Ogbeh spoke at a news conference inAbuja.

He said the 2011 National Agricultural Sample Survey indicated that Nigeria was endowed with an estimated 19.5u million cattle, 72.5 million goats, 41.3 million sheep, 7.1 million pigs and 28,000 camels.

Accordingly, the minister said the country had 145 million chickens, 11.6 million ducks, 1.2 million turkeys and 974, 499 donkeys.Ogbeh said this impressive statistics which had made Nigeria number one in livestock in Africa had not met the
national demand of animal protein or
contributed to the GDP over the years.

He decried the low milk production in Nigeria as a cow produced one litre of milk a day while a cow in Saudi Arabia or Brazil produced 30 to 40 litres. Saudi Arabia produces 4.7 million litres of milk daily while Nigeria imports about 1.3 billion
dollar worth of milk annually to make up deficit.

The minister said of all theenterprise in the livestock sector, only the poultry industry had achieved an appreciable level of commercialisation.Ogbeh said other industries in the livestock sector were predominantly in the hands of
subsistence farmers with pastoralist
system of production contributing over 90per cent of cattle production in the country.

“The way forward in improving our
livestock and dairy industry is to intensify efforts on adding value to the industry along the respective livestock value chains.

The minister said there was a new disease outbreak affecting maize production in some parts of Edo and in the South West of the country. He gave the name of the disease as “army worm’’, adding that relevant research institutes were working on it and the ministry was monitoring the level of threat it posed.

Ogbeh urged farmers not to panic, adding that the ministry would take further action if the disease is not controlled within a short time.

Minister of Agriculture Warns Nigerians: Drinking Purewater Left Under Hot Sun Causes Kidney And Liver Failures

Minister of Agriculture and Rural
Development, Audu Ogbe yesterday, described food eaten by
most Nigerians as poison. He also
disclosed that over boiling of cow meat by Nigerians was saving them from being infected by Tuberculosis from consumption of beef.

The minister insisted that many Nigerians eat poison on daily basis in the process of feeding. He spoke at a one-day Public Hearing on Food Security Bills, organized by the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. According to him,Poisonous intake of Nigerians from some food items on daily basis arose from wrong habit of processing and preserving them.

He specifically gave example of moimoi prepared in cellophane locally known as nylon,as poisonous which according to him, contain a large dosage of dioxins that are naturally impotent in leaves when used to package the delicacy. He also pointed out that consumption of sachet ( pure )water exposed to sun at over 28 degree centigrade was poisonous which he noted usually resulted to many cases of kidney
and liver failures amongst Nigerians.
He said but for the practice of over boiling meat, many Nigerians would have been infected by Tuberculosis from consumption of cow meat.

“Many of the cows being moved from one place to the other by herdsmen, are already infected with tuberculosis but our practice of boiling meat very well here has been the saving grace from people being
infected with the deadly disease”, he said.

Smuggled frozen chicken preserved with formalin which is also used for
preservation of dead bodies, according to the minister , have been potent poison being consumed by Nigerians with attendant serious health challenges in the land.He also cited example of beans and grains preservation with over dosage of
pesticides by farmers and sellers as
another dangerous food poison that had killed many Nigerians and still killing unsuspecting buyers and consumers.

Wrong application of fertilizer by farmers on their farm land , the minister noted, has also led to poisonous consumption of food items. “Unknowingly to many of the
farmers, there is Specific fertilizer for specific crops in specific state in line with soil texture”, he explained.

Fani-Kayode Is Still In Prison Because He Can't Meet EFCC’s $1 Million Bail Condition

Fani-Kayode who is being investigated by the EFCC for fresh charges (in addition to the N800m previous fraud charge) - is still in
detention because he can't meet his bail conditions.

Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), counsel to Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation and director of Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation,
yesterday told an FCT High Court, Apo, Abuja that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) asked his client to produce $1million as part of his bail term, which he has
not been able to meet.

Adedipe during the hearing on the violation of fundamental rights suit filed against the EFCC told Justice Olukayode Adeniyi that Fani-Kayode
was offered bail by the EFCC but he has only been able to meet part of the conditions.

Adedipe alleged that the remand of Fani-Kayode by the EFCC is a violation of his fundamental human rights and his detention since May 9,
2016 is unconstitutional as he is being held without being charged for financial crimes against the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He said,“The constitution anticipates that a man may be arrested but not necessarily arraigned as provided in the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).”

He submitted that it is violating on the constitutional requirement that Fani-Kayode has not been charged to court but being held in detention that there is a provision in the constitution or any law for the actions of the anti-graft agency.

Adedipe further told the court that the EFCC said Fani-Kayode was being investigated in connection to a company called Joint Trust Dimension through which over N800m was allegedly transferred to the account of Fani-Kayode.

“The applicant (Fani-Kayode) has never said he did not receive the money (N800m) in question. He was the Director of Publicity for the
Presidential Campaign Organisation of the former president Goodluck Jonathan who paid him the money,” Adedipe said.

Pastor's Wife Fights With Only Bra And Pants On, Hubby Reacts In An Unexpected Way!

After 10 years of unresolved marital crises, an Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Wednesday dissolved the marriage between a 42-year- old
pastor and evangelist, Racheal, and her businessman-husband, Mr Joseph Aduwo.

Part of the reasons for the divorce was the woman was a ''shameless street fighter" who once fought non-stop for 15 hours wearing just a
bra.

The President of the court, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, who gave the verdict, cited frequent fighting between the man and his wife. To the former husband, the dissolution of the 10-year-old marriage is good riddance to bad rubbish.

“My wife, who is a pastor, an evangelist, a church interpreter and women leader, fought with nine persons in a day on our street, wearing only bra and underpants.

“She is a shameless street fighter,’’ he told the court. The court’s president said he was convinced that the couple could no longer live together as the petitioner insisted on divorce after several unsuccessful interventions. He ruled:“The court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the wife claims she still loves her husband.

“The court hereby pronounces the marriage between Joseph Aduwo and Racheal dissolved today; both parties henceforth cease to be
husband and wife. “You are free to go your separate ways without hindrances and molestation.”

The petitioner, Aduwo, 59, had approached the court seeking the dissolution of the marriage who he described as a street fighter.

“My wife one day engaged in fights from 8.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. and residents were begging her to stop but she refused. “I also pleaded with
her but instead she cursed me and I was ashamed of myself. “I had to take her pictures with my phone when she was fighting in the public with only brassier and sent the pictures to her family,” he also told the court.

He accused Racheal of maltreating his three children he had from another woman.“My wife has been hostile to my children and they had to vacate my house and rent an
apartment elsewhere. “She fights my friends and relatives anytime they visit me and this has prevented them from coming to my house,’’ said the estranged husband, who pleaded with the court to dissolve the marriage.

Racheal, however, denied all the allegations, saying:“I used to prepare food in the morning, afternoon and evening for my husband. “The court should not grant his request for a divorce as I still love him.’’

Nigerians Are So Poor, Only 2% of the Entire Population Have N500k or More In Their Bank Account

As a major indicator of wealth distribution in Nigeria across income groups, a mere two per cent of Nigerians own 90 per cent of total deposits in Nigerian banks. This
represents the wide gap between the rich and the poor in Nigeria, which continues to pose major socio- economic development challenges to the nation.

Director of Research and International Relations at the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation,NDIC, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, disclosed this at the Business day Capital Market Development Annual Conference in Abuja, yesterday.

His words: “Our current deposit insurance coverage is N500, 000 for the Deposit Money Banks. And some people have said that it is low. I can tell you that it is very adequate for the majority of accounts. It will interest you to know that it covers
over 90 per cent of accounts in the
country. Indeed, Nigerians who have more than N500, 000 in their accounts are just two per cent.

“What we found is that this two per cent Nigerians have 90 per cent of banks’ total deposits. Look at that – two per cent Nigerians own 90 per cent of total banks deposits, while the remaining 98 per cent have just 10 per cent of total deposits.

What that tells you is that the gap
between the rich and the poor has
continued in this country.”Alhaji Umar added that there were about 70 million bank account holders in the country. The total bank deposits stood at N17.2 trillion, as at December 2015, according to a post on the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, website. Earlier in his address, the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC,
Mr. Mounir Gwarzo, urged Pension Fund Administrators, PFAs, to invest more in the nation’s capital market, with a view to deepening it and ensuring better returns on contributor’s funds.
