Women are going to extreme lengths to get perfect skin, opting to have carbon dioxide injected under their skin to combat dark circles. A new video on Instagram shows the extreme treatment, called Carboxy therapy.The short clip demonstrates how the gas is injected under the skin, causing the eye area to swell up in what looks like very painful way.
However advice on spa and clinic websites advises that the treatment is not painful, and that clients may just feel some slight tingling as the gas is injected. In the video, the needle is inserted to the side of the
woman's left eye, and as the gas is
injected both under her eye and her eyelid to swell up, looking like a balloon.
After the gas is injected, it will naturally absorb into the body and doesn't need to be removed. The treatment works by supposedly increasing oxygen in the area the gas is injected, improving the look of
the skin and reducing dark circles or
scarring.
It also claims to increase collagen in the skin, making the face look more youthful, and that results can last up to six months. It's spruiked as a'non-surgical' way to improve wrinkles, and an alternative to Botox.
You need at least four to six treatments for Carboxy to work on under eye circles, and more for treatment on stretch marks and scarring, DailyMail reports.
