Gabrielle Union's Husband Dwyane Wade, Goes NAKED For ESPN's July Body Issue

Oh my... Dwyane Wade is a three-time NBA champion married to one of the most accomplished women on the earth. But the 34-year-old says he's still human and, like everyone else, has insecurities.

On taking his clothes off for ESPN's
#BodyIssue, Wade - who is one of the most in-demand athletes on the planet - said:

"It wasn't like even, 'Maybe'. It was like, 'Absolutely not' every time.I just wasn't comfortable with the notion of posing naked in front of a photographer. It never was something I thought I wanted to do....

A lot of people say, 'You're a professional athlete, how could you not embrace your body?' But it was from a lot of insecurities in my life growing up in a kid."

"Even though you become great at a sport, people cheer you on, those insecurities don't necessarily wash themselves away. When I got married to my wife ... I would never walk around on vacation with my shirt off. I would always have something on, something covered and she was like,
'What are you doing, you weirdo?'" he said."It took me a few years, even by myself in the house walking around naked."

On his relationship with his 43-year-old actress, model and activist wife Gabrielle Union - Wade says they help each other grow as people:

"I think we've both done that for each
other. I get to see a different side of her no one else does and her insecurities, and she gets to know mine as well. We go out and are public figures, so we share that
[with the world] but we don't share it all....I think that's one of the things that drove me to be in a relationship with her and even get married....I felt that she has been helping me be a better person."

The incident comes a week after anti-terrorism investigators were alerted to the possibility that small groups of ISIS extremists had left Syria for France and Belgium with plans to stage attacks - including at a shopping mall.

EFCC Insists Freezing Fayose's Bank Accounts Is Legal: "We Have A Right to Freeze Any Suspicious Account Including Governors

The personal accounts of Governor
Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and those of some of his associates have been frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).

The action immediately prompted diverse reactions with a large majority of lawyers and Nigerians
contacted affirming the validity of the commission freezing a governor’s account, but only upon the orders of a court.

Governor Fayose, who opened up on the EFCC’s action while speaking at the, premises of Zenith Bank, Ado-Ekiti, where he has his personal account, claimed that he got notice of plans by the Presidency to freeze his account some days earlier.

A source in the bank told the visibly
surprised Fayose that his account was allegedly frozen on the orders of the anti-graft agency. The governor said he had earlier issued a counter cheque to make a withdrawal, which was rejected by the bank located in Onigari , GRA in Ado Ekiti, describing the action as criminal and, illegal. Citing Section 308 of the 1999 Constitution, Fayose said he enjoys immunity as a sitting governor, urging the Federal Government to fight corruption within the ambit of the law.

He said: “I got wind of the fact that the EFCC had placed restriction order on my,personal account and that of my associates. I came here today (yesterday), and I have been able to see it. This action shows that this government has no respect for the constitution because I enjoy immunity under Section 308. I support government fighting corruption, but it has to be within the ambit of the law. You can investigate me; it is their right, but they have to wait till 2018 because I will be done by then. They should not be in a
hurry because I will personally come to them for investigation.

“I have become a public figure in this
country that I don’t have anywhere to run to. This rascality of EFCC must stop. If they like, let them investigate the whole world. Is it because they are the sitting government now that nobody can ask them questions? We will take every legal procedure to get things right. I am not leaving this bank until they give me a statement of account. They must put it into writingbecause EFCC has no right under the law to freeze my account. They did not communicate with me. They want to destabilize the state, and we will use all legal means to make them obey the constitution. They can investigate me, but they can’t coerce me.”

EFCC Reacts: 'We have right to freeze any suspicious account including Fayose’s' The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reacted to the claim that Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State cannot be investigated because of
immunity currently being enjoyed by him.

The commission said that the immunitybeing enjoyed by any governor does not prevent the commission from investigating suspicious movements of money into his accounts. The Spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren said:

“ Immunity does not prevent EFCC from investigating suspicious accounts of those enjoying immunity and Fayose cannot be an
exception. Under the constitution,
government executives don’t have immunity on investigation. They can be investigated while in office but can’t be prosecuted. Also,an account can be blocked during investigation.”

FG, Niger Delta Militants Agree On 30-Day Ceasefire

The federal government and militant groups in the Niger Delta, including the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), which has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on oil and gas installations in recent months, have agreed to a 30-day truce to give President Muhammadu Buhari time to come up with a comprehensive plan for the oil-rich region, investigations by ThisDay have revealed.

The “30 days of quiet” was said to have been agreed upon last week by a federal government team led by the Minister of State for Petroleum
Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and
representatives of the militant groups, community leaders and the state governments.

Last week, Kachikwu had led a government delegation to different camps in Bayelsa and Delta States, including visiting the temporary site of the Maritime University at Okerenkoko,Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State,in a bid to reach out to representatives of the militant groups to get them to stop its attacks on oil and gas facilities.

The activities of the militants have halved Nigeria’s oil production to some 1.4 million barrels per day, impacted negatively on power supply in the country and the country’s oil earnings.

According to a source who opened up on the 30-day period of truce, Kachikwu was said to have reached out to the militants through back
channels and pleaded for some time for the Buhari administration to come up with a comprehensive Niger Delta plan that would address most of their demands.

The militant groups, the source said, accepted Kachikwu’s plea, adding that since the agreement was reached there had been no attacks on oil and gas installations in the oil-
rich region.

“You would have noticed that there have been no bombings of oil assets in recent days. This is the fall out of the 30 days of quiet reached with the minister and his team.

“This will give the president time to come up with a comprehensive plan for the Niger Delta,” the source informed THISDAY.

He also revealed that some of the demands made by the militants were for greater control of the hydrocarbon resources in their
communities, improved funding for the Amnesty Programme, clean-up of oil producing communities in the Niger Delta that had been devastated by oil exploration activities, and funding for the Maritime University, among others.

Singer Humblesmith Stole And Sold Mom’s Gold To Pay For His First Studio Session

Fast rising Afro-pop artiste, Ekene Ijemba, popularly known as ‘Humblesmith’ has made shocking revelations about his family background, childhood, music career, and the music industry.

In a chat with Showtime Celebrity, the Osinachi crooner said:
I was born and brought up in Ebonyi
State. Music started for me when I was a kid, it actually runs in the family. My mother is a good singer; she is a chorister in the church, most times she sang at home, likewise other members of my family. Everything my mom does goes with music, at times, if she wants to talk to you she talks with music. All these and more got me inspired.

Also, I usually listened to Bright Chimezie and his contemporaries, so at a point music just became a part of me.

I started out as a dancer in 1996; I was part of a group called American Boys, we used to dance, sing and act. After my secondary education, I decided to relocate to Delta State to pursue my music career, my parents refused but I insisted.

Though before then,I had done some
other things that made them finally
support my decision. I partook in the
first-ever Star Quest competition, I came second and I won a big flat screen TV. When I got back home with the TV and the crowd that accompanied me, my parents were overjoyed. It was at that point they knew that I was really bent on doing music. So when I insisted I was relocating to Asaba in Delta state, they just had to support me.

Parental and family support

Parents usually love their kids to pursue a career that people will appreciate. As at that time my parents believed that doing music as a career was for wayward people, but I didn’t let that discourage me. I am from a Catholic background, so they didn’t want anything to distract me from going to church and probably become a priest.

My mom wanted me to become a
Catholic priest while my dad wanted me to be a footballer because he is a
football coach.I had to apply wisdom
and diplomacy; I did everything they
wanted me to do. I played ball, I served in church. I didn’t do it to please them;I did it just to be sure of what was actually going to work for me. I later discovered that I was born to do music.

I used to bring people home to convince my parents to understand that music is what I wanted to do. As time went on, my parents came to terms with it, so they had no choice but to support my choice of career.

Survival after relocating to Delta

After my relocation to Delta State, things were so rough for me. When I was still with my parents, I was known as a moi-moi seller. I and my siblings hawked moi-moi on the streets, that was how my parents were able to train eight children through primary and secondary school.

When I first got to Asaba I had to study the environment to understand the terrain and know what works and what doesn’t. I just had to think of a legit way to fend for myself because I had nobody to help me out there. I hustled on the streets of Asaba, I made trending shoes, sandals, slippers, and belts and sold them to students and workers just to make some money to pursue my music career and equally fend for myself.

I remembered that when I was in
secondary school, I was the drama
director, so I formed a drama group,
wrote scripts that portrayed current
happenings in the society. I would then go to discuss with the principal of various secondary schools to allow us stage our play for students to watch after paying a small amount of money. I also used to do menial jobs like bricklaying, carrying sand and blocks.

Wherever I see construction work going on, I will go there and beg to work with them for daily pay. Also, if I see a bushy compound I will approach the owner and offer to clear the grasses for an amount of money. I hustled seriously on the streets to survive; it got to a point that I opened a video rental shop in Asaba.

I stole and sold my mom’s gold to pay for my first studio session, but I later confessed and apologized to her, promising to buy her more than what I stole in the nearest future.

Education or music?

For now I’m fully into music. I stopped schooling after my secondary school education, but I hope to continue, but that will be after I’ve made a lot of money, financially comfortable and capable of catering for my family.

I don’t want to stress my parents anymore, they have done a lot already so let me take it up from where they
stopped.

New single with Flavour Na’bania

I have always been a fan of Flavour right from day one. My manager met Flavor in London, played my song to his hearing and he liked it. Though Flavor has always loved my song from when I did my first single Chairmoo.

Jukwese is a song I’ve done for some time now, even before Osinachi. I was unable to hook up with Flavour on time to jump on it so we dropped Osinachi, but thank God I was later able to get Flavour to jump on the single with me. I didn’t pay him a dime to feature on the song, he did it out of the love he has for my music.

Forex Crisis Bites Hard As Nigerian Students Abroad Apply to Naija Universities to Complete Their Education

Many Nigerian students studying abroad have been seeking transfer to Nigerian universities to complete their education at home because of the scarcity of foreign exchange.

According to Punch, the students were forced to take the decision following the huge exchange rate which many parents could no longer afford.

Some of the students told Punch that they would prefer to return to the country to complete theirstudies, instead of going through difficulties and long waits for forex that is no longer available to them at the appropriate time. An Ogun State indigene, Babatunde Agboola, who is studying in the United States, told one of our correspondents that he and some of his friends had agreed to return to Nigeria to complete their studies.

“The message we keep on receiving from home every day is that dollar is scarce and this is affecting our education,” Agboola said.

Asked which way the scarcity of the dollar was affecting them, he simply said, “In all areas. We need to buy food and sometimes books, but when there is no money to buy them, automatically we will be affected. So, it is better we return to Nigeria to
complete our studies.”

A large number of Nigerian students are studying abroad, mainly in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, among others.

International Educational Exchange Report
A 2015 report by the Institute of
International Education’s Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, the United States, claimed that 9,494 students from Nigeria were admitted in the 2014/15 academic session, making
Nigeria the leading source of students from Africa and the 15th largest country worldwide among international students in the US.

Nigerian universities, especially the private ones, have however, expressed interest in providing spaces for willing students interested in their respective institutions.

The universities assured the concerned students of standard learning facilities like those found in tertiary institutions abroad.

For instance, Babcock University said it was interested in accepting transfer students. It allayed the fears of concerned parents who could not afford expensive forex and urged them to seek placements for their children in the institution. The university also promised interested
students world-class learning facilities.

It listed integration of international
professional certifications into academic programmes and well structured and uninterrupted academic programmes, among others, as some of the benefits
interested students were bound to enjoy. A senior official of Babcock University told one of our correspondents on the telephonethat many foreign students had been seeking transfer to the institution.

He said the opportunity was open to
Nigerians who actually left the country to school abroad and those who were born there. The official said:
“It is surprising that many parents said their children would not have completed their education abroad, but for the opportunity created by Babcock University to assist stranded students. So many people have been coming to us to seek advice on how to handle their transfer. All they need to do is to apply and come with their transcripts. The opportunity is open
to every interested person, including
Nigerians born abroad, but interested in continuing their education in Nigeria.”

Worse For Final Year Students
Meanwhile, some parents whose children are schooling abroad have said that their final year students have been engaging in menial jobs, among other means, to sustain themselves.

A parent, Mrs. Abigail Ademuyiwa, whose son is studying in the University of Kyiv, Ukraine, stated that her son was in the final year, but had been seeking scholarship to complete his education following her inability to send money to
him.

She said “ Since last year that the foreign exchange has affected the naira, the money I have beensending to him is no longer enough to take care of him, but he told me that he had been seeking scholarship there
to complete his education, apart from engaging in menial jobs to cater for himself. He will graduate this year .”

A man, Alhaji Ahmed Sani, said he would have loved to bring his 21-year-old son from Ghana to complete his education at home, but he was constrained because he was in his final year.

Sani said, “ The tuition I paid in his first two years was not up to what I paid after the forex crisis. Before, I used to pay N200, 000per session, but I now pay N400, 000. If not because he is in his final year, I would have loved to bring him back to complete his education at home.”
He, however, told one of correspondents that two of his friends whose children still had more than two academic sessions to
complete their studies have sought
placements for them in Nigerian
universities.
